Plymouth City Airport
Plymouth City Airport was a regional airport serving the city of Plymouth, Devon, in the UK. After a growing trend of declining passenger numbers a decision was made to close the facility on 23-Dec-2011. The airport provided scheduled services to destinations in the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands. Plymouth City Airport is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sutton Harbour Holdings, which also owned former regional carrier, Air Southwest which was based at the airport. UK's Department for Transport conducted a study regarding the possibility of reopening Plymouth City Airport for commercial passenger services in 2016. The department concluded Plymouth City Airport does not present a viable option for the reopening, citing "without a number of commercial risks to any future operator of the airport and any commercial passenger airlines serving the airport."
