Natal Aluízio Alves International Airport, also known as Natal São Gonçalo do Amarante Airport, is an airport located 40 kilometres northwest of the Brazilian city of Natal, the capital and largest city in Rio Grande do Norte State. The BRL1 billion (USD435 million) facility opened for operations on 31-May-2014. Natal Aluízio Alves was the first airport in the country to receive a private operator's concession and is managed by the Inframerica consortium. The airport replaces Natal Augusto Severo Airport. Aluízio Alves has capacity for 6.2 million passengers p/a.
