Male Ibrahim Nasir International Airport is the largest of five airports in the Maldives. It is operated by Maldives Airports Company Limited. Aside from being served by over two dozen regular international carriers and a handful of charter operators, it is the hub for the national airline, Maldivian.
On 01-Jan-2017 Maldives Airports Company announced Male Ibrahim Nasir International Airport was officially renamed Velana International Airport, effective from 01-Jan-2017. Velana is the family name of the Maldives' second President, Ibrahim Nasir.
