About

Cotopaxi International Airport serves the city of Latacunga, Ecuador, 90 minutes south of the capital Quito. The airport is equipped with the second longest runway in the country at 3693m and is primarily a cargo facility, though efforts were launched in Mar-2013 to promote Latacunga as an alternative to Quito Mariscal Sucre International Airport for both passenger and cargo services on the basis of cost, proximity to exporters and expediency. The airport was approved for 24-hour operation in Mar-2013, allowing cargo operators greater flexibility. The airport currently offers domestic passenger services through national carrier TAME, while Cargolux operates freight services to Europe. The airport is operated by Ecuador's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (Ecuador DGAC).
