Francisco Carle Airport serves the city of Jauja, Peru, capital of Jauja Province and 45km from Huancayo. The airport is currently served solely by LC Peru, with services to Lima, and is operated by state-owned Corporación Peruana de Aeropuertos y Aviación Comercial (CORPAC). The airport has been slated for modernisation over the past year, despite local opposition and protests from regional residents on a number of occassions. USD11.5 million modernisation plans are expected to continue, with a study for runway and terminal upgrades underway. The modernisation is expected to allow A320-family aircraft to serve the airport.
