About

Hiroshima West Airport was Hiroshima's first airport, opening in 1940 as Yoshijima Airport. The facility, also known as Hiroshimanishi Airport, served as the primary airport for the city of Hiroshima until Hiroshima International Airport replaced Hiroshima West in 1993. The airport served as a base for J-Air as well as the JAL Flight Academy. Hiroshima West Airport now operates as a heliport.
