Georgetown Cheddi Jagan International Airport
Cheddi Jagan International Airport, formerly known as Timehri International Airport, is located 41km south of the Guyanese capital, Georgetown, and is the country's major international gateway. A number of regional carriers operate a predominantly northern network from Georgetown, with services to the eastern US and the Caribbean. The airport is operated by Cheddi Jagan International Airport Corporation. The airport is due to undergo a USD138 million expansion project, resulting in a new terminal building and 975m runway expansion. The project is being funded by the China Ex-Im Bank with works to be undertaken by China Harbour Engineering Company.
