Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International Airport is an airport owned and operated by Dubai Airports, located 40km south of Dubai, UAE. The airport will gradually replace Dubai International Airport as Dubai’s primary airport and once fully completed will be the world’s largest airport. The airport opened on 26-Jun-2010 with the commencement of cargo services on one runway and scheduled passenger operations commenced in late Oct-2013. Once fully operational, the airport will have a capacity of 160 million passengers and 12 million tonnes of cargo p/a, operating on five runways. Initial passenger capacity at Al Maktoum International will be seven million passengers p/a. Al Maktoum International is part of the larger 140 sq km Dubai World Central airport city development.
