Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport served as the primary airport for the city of Dakar, Senegal. Dakar is a major hub of aviation activity in west Africa, and has direct connections to major metropolitan areas in western Africa, and holiday resorts in the Canary Islands. Senegal's Government plans to convert Dakar Yoff Airport into a military base following the opening of the new Blaise Diagne International Airport on 07-Dec-2017.
