Region: Africa : Central/Western Africa

Republic of Senegal is located in Western Africa. Aviation in Senegal is not the premier choice for short distances or close destinations, as ground transport is widely used and cheaper in price. Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport (DKR) is the main international gateway into Senegal, in Dakar - the capital city of the country.  DKR is linked to a number of African cities by air and there are daily flights to Europe. Some of the carriers serving this airport include Delta Air Lines and South African Airways. The Senegalese government did operate Air Senegal International as the national airline, however the airline was suspended in 2009. Senegal Airlines replaced Air Senegal International as the country's privately-held flagship carrier. However, Senegal Airlines had its AOC revoked in Mar-2016. The National Civil Aviation Agency of Senegal is the civil aviation agency of Senegal.
