Blackpool Airport is a regional airport serving the city of Blackpool and the surrounding Lancashire county of England. In Sep-2014 the airport was put up for sale, with a threat of closure. The airport stated commercial operations ceased from 18:00 on 15-Oct-2014 and the airport will no longer be open to members of the public. However, Balfour Beatty (majority shareholder with 95% stake in Blackpool Airport) confirmed the licence had been returned and operations resumed on 19-Dec-2014.
Ownership of the airport was reacquired by the Blackpool Council in Sep-2017 from Balfour Beatty.
