VRL was a proposed Indian start-up planned to be based at Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport. The start-up was proposed by VRL Group promoters' Vijay Sankeshwar and Anand Sankeshwar, as a personal venture separate from the operations of the freight-forwarding and logistics company. The VRL executives aimed to establish a new regional airline, with approximately INR14 billion (USD209 million) of capital. The investors stated they have not submitted an air operator's application, nor decided on a business model. However, Mr Sankeshwar has stated the two investors could establish the new venture as a full-service carrier, or adopt a low-cost model. In Jul-2016, VRL Logistics chairman and MD Vijay Sankeshwar confirmed the company no longer plans to launch a regional airline.
