Low Cost Carrier
Ceased Operations on 27-Feb-2023
Part of Grupo Viva
Country/Territory: Colombia

Viva (formerly VivaColombia) was founded in 2008 and commenced operations on 25-May-2012. The airline is Colombia’s sole low cost carrier after the sale of former LCC, Aires to LAN and its subsequent remodelling into full service carrier, LAN Colombia (now known as LATAM Airlines Colombia). The airline provides domestic and international services from its bases at Medellin Jose Maria Cordova Airport and at Bogota El Dorado International Airport. Viva cooperates closely with sister carrier, VivaAerobus, based in Mexico, both of which form part of multinational airline group; Grupo Viva. The carrier is wholly-owned by Irelandia Aviation. VivaColombia rebranded to Viva in May-2021.

Viva suspended operations with immediate effect on 27-Feb-2023, citing delays in Colombia Aerocivil's decision regarding its proposed integration with Avianca.

On 13-May-2023, Viva announced its intention to permanently exit the market due to operations no longer being economically viable, following Avianca's decision to desist from the proposed merger between the companies. Avianca decided to withdraw from the proposed integration after rejecting Colombia Aerocivil's conditions for the merger.
