Ceased Operations on 16-Jan-2016

Sol Líneas Aéreas was an Argentine airline based at Islas Malvinas Airport. Founded in 2005, it operated a domestic network of passenger, charter and cargo services. SOL Lineas Aereas ceased service operations and filed for bankruptcy on 16-Jan-2016 due to the termination of an air services contract with Aerolineas Argentinas. Air Nostrum, Sol's strategic partner, also withdrew it's interest in the airline. The Argentine Government has given Transatlántica, Sol's parent company, a conditional 15-day period to find a new investor.

In Feb-2016, Amaszonas stated it was interested in acquiring the Argentine carrier  in Mar-2016. However, negotiations between Transatlantica and Amaszonas failed. The carrier confirmed it had not secured a new investor within the time frame set by the government.
