About

Pasifika Air (originally named JetRaro) was a proposed start-up carrier to be based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The carrier planned to commence operations in July-2020, but revised to launch in Jun-2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline plans to offer direct flights from Wellington and Christchurch to the Cook Islands. The carrier is expected to receive approval for operations in May-2021.

On 15-Apr-2021, New Zealand entrepreneur Mike Pero stated he has "reluctantly decided now is not the time to launch Pasifika Air". Mr Pero said the company reached 75% of its funding targets, with "The company and its funds remain fully intact and we will progress our AOC to a point where we can be ready to reignite".

In May-2021, Mike Pero said Pasifika Air is continuing the process of receiving an air operator's certificate (AOC), adding "whatever aircraft we choose now, will set us up for a long time". Mr Pero said "we won't be operational" until later in 2021.

In Jun-2021, New Zealand entrepreneur Mike Pero suspended plans to launch Pasifika Air, noting "We got to a stage about a week ago where there were just too many obstacles coming up out in front of us… it just isn't meant to be for Pasifika Air".
