About

Originair is a New Zealand regional carrier based at Nelson Airport. The carrier launched service operations on 12-Aug-2015 with a seven times weekly Nelson-Palmerston North service followed by seven times weekly Nelson-Wellington service on 13-Sep-2015. The carrier is backed by MD Robert Inglis, founder of Air Nelson, Origin Pacific Airways and aircraft leasing company, Inglis Aircraft Ltd. Originair utilises two 19-seat British Aerospace Jetstream 32 aircraft. Originair had entered into agreements with Air Freight NZ and Fieldair Engineering to carry out flight operations and fleet maintenance respectively. However, Air Freight NZ had restrictions placed on its AOC. Originair subsequently contracted Airwork NZ to operate Metroliner equipment for the carrier until the agreement expired in Mar-2016, when the carrier suspended services. The carrier resumed operations on 11-Jul-2016, awarding Inflite Charters provisional service rights to operate Nelson-Palmerston North service. Originair MD Robert Inglis confirmed the resumption of service between Palmerston North and Nelson on 23-Sep-2016.
