About
Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter mbH is a German regional carrier headquartered in Dortmund. The airline was established in 1980 as an independent operator, before Air Berlin PLC acquired the airline and merged its regional service structure as part of airberlin's network. In Aug-2017, airberlin filed to commence insolvency proceedings in order to continue with a "restructuring process". In accordance with negotiations between Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Air Berlin PLC, Lufthansa acquired LGW and NIKI from airberlin for a combined purchase price of EUR210 million. Lufthansa Group integrated LGW operations into Eurowings. On 20-Feb-2019, Zeitfracht Group formally acquired LGW effective 01-Apr-2019.
On 22-Apr-2020, Zeitfracht Group announced LGW Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter filed for insolvency with the Duesseldorf District Court.
