Italia Trasporteo Aereo (ITA)
Italia Trasporto Aereo is a startup carrier to replace Alitalia and plans to commence services on 15-Oct-2021. The airline will operate 52 aircraft initially and expand its fleet to 78 aircraft by the end of 2022 and 105 aircraft by the end of 2025. Upon launch, ITA will operate 61 services to 45 destinations, expanding to 89 services to 74 destinations by 2025. Long haul international destinations from launch will include New York, Tokyo, Boston and Miami, with services to Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Washington and Los Angeles expected to commence in summer 2022. ITA is approved to directly acquire the assets of Alitalia's "aviation branch", and expects to employ 2750-2950 Alitalia "aviation branch" personnel, increasing to 5550-5700 personnel by 2025. ITA will also participate in a public tender to acquire Alitalia's brand, ground handling and MRO branches, and if successful will employ more than 3000 additional Alitalia personnel. The airline aims to raise EUR700 million to acquire Alitalia assets and expects to achieve operational break-even by 3Q2023.
