Henan Cargo Airlines
Henan Cargo Airlines, formerly named Cargolux China, is a start-up cargo airline that will be based at Xinzheng International Airport, in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, in central China. The carrier is a JV between Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment, Cargolux (25%), Henan Airport Group and Xinggang Investment Group Company. According to Cargolux, Henan Cargo will specialise in heavy and outsize shipments as China is expected to increase the manufacture and export of equipment and machinery for the oil, gas and power industries. Plans were underway to launch the start-up in 2015 as Cargolux China, however, the start-up is expected to launch in late 2018 providing trans-Pacific and some intra-Asia services using a fleet of Boeing 747-400F aircraft. A precise launch date is unknown. Cargolux expects the start-up to incur losses of less than USD50 million in its first three years of operation, supported by subsidies from the Henan Province Government. The airline is expected to be profitable in its fourth or fifth year of operations.
