About
Henan Cargo Airlines, formerly named Cargolux China, is a start-up cargo airline that will be based at Xinzheng International Airport, in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, in central China. The carrier is a JV between Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment, Cargolux (25%), Henan Airport Group and Xinggang Investment Group Company. According to Cargolux, Henan Cargo will specialise in heavy and outsize shipments as China is expected to increase the manufacture and export of equipment and machinery for the oil, gas and power industries.
In Dec-2018, Cargolux Airlines International CEO Richard Forson stated recent risks associated with a potential trade war between mainland China and the US have prompted Cargolux to decelerate the process and adopt a more cautious approach to the start up JV. Mr Forson said "There is no specific launch date, and there can't be without a lot more certainty". No additional updates have been provided, it is assumed plans to launch operations have been abandoned.
