About

Green Africa is a Nigerian start-up to be based at Lagos Murtula Muhammed International Airport. The carrier received an air traffic license from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority in early 2016, and secured an Air Service License in May-2018. It planned to commence service operations in 2020.

In Apr-2021, Green Africa introduced its first two ATR 72-600 aircraft (5N-GAA and 5N-GAE). The airline plans to deploy up to 15 ATR 72-600s by Dec-2022. The carrier will initially operate from Lagos and plans to open two or three additional bases in Nigeria over the next 18 months. Green Africa received the first ATR 72-600 aircraft on lease from ACIA Aero Leasing in Lagos on 23-Apr-2021.

Green Africa received its second aircraft in Lagos on 14-May-2021. The ATR 72-600 (ZS-ESS) will be registered as 5N-GAA in Nigeria. The third of three ATR 72-600 aircraft was received from ACIA Aero Leasing on 03-Jun-2021.

Green Africa commenced ticket sales through its official website on 25-May-2021. The airline will launch operations from Lagos to Abuja, Akure, Enugu, Ilorin, Owerri and Port Harcourt on 24-Jun-2021.

In Jun-2021, Green Africa postponed plans to launch operations until Jul-2021. The airline's air operator's certificate (AOC) will not be available until Jul-2021 "due to unforeseen circumstances". Green Africa temporarily suspended bookings through its website.
