Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes SA (Gol) was founded in 2001 and commenced operations on 12-Mar-2004. The Brazilian low-cost carrier operates services to destinations throughout Brazil and to markets in South America, the Caribbean and the United States from its primary hub at Sao Paulo Congonhas Airport. The LCC also operates out of bases at Rio de Janiero International Airport and Brasilia International Airport. In 2007, Gol acquired VRG Linhas Aéreas SA (Varig), which allowed it to grow its route network and bolster its share of business traffic at strategic destinations in Brazil. Gol operates a fleet of Boeing 737 family aircraft.
