About
Fly Lankan is a proposed carrier to be based at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport. Fly Lankan Asia Private Limited applied to Civil Aviation Authority Sri Lanka for an air operator's certificate (AOC) and airline licence in Sep-2020. The carrier plans to operate domestic and international services with a fleet of BAe 146-300 aircraft for passenger services and Boeing 737-200s for cargo services.
In Nov-2021, Fly Lankan CEO Arosha Fernando reported the start-up airline plans to commence services in Jan-2022, focusing primarily on cargo operations initially. A revised launch date has not been advised, it is assumed plans to launch operations have been abandoned.
