Fly Gangwon
About
Fly Gangwon is a low cost carrier based at Yangyang, Gangwong Province. The company was established in 2016 and applied for authorisation in Dec-2016. Fly Gangwon received its first aircraft, an 186 seat Boeing 737-800 in Sep-2019. The carrier received an AOC from MOLIT on 28-Oct-2019, allowing Fly Gangwon to launch commercial operations on 22-Nov-2019 with Yangyang-Jeju service.
Seoul Bankruptcy Court commenced debt-restructuring proceedings for Fly Gangwon in Jun-2023. This follows the carrier applying for court receivership on 23-May-2023 after suspending operations due to "financial difficulties".
South Korea MOLIT suspended Fly Gangwon's AOC on 19-Jul-2023, due to the LCC's suspension of operations for more than 60 days. No additional details have been provided, it is assumed the carrier has ceased operations.
Fly Gangwon was acquired by Winix in Jul-2024 and plans to rebrand as Parata Airlines.
