FlyYangYang, rebranded as Fly Gangwon, is a proposed low-cost carrier to be based at Yangyang, Gangwong Province. The company was established in 2016, and applied for authorisation in Dec-2016. Fly Gangwon's application was denied by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, but has submitted a new license application. It is expected to operate on a domestic network from its hub at Yangyang Airport, utilising Boeing 737-800 aircraft on lease. Subject to approval, the carrier will potentially become the one of six potential LCCs to be based in South Korea (in contention with other proposed Korean LCC start-ups - Air Daegu, uSKY, Air Pohang [launched in Feb-2018], Aero K and Nambu Air).
