Firnas Airways is a proposed start-up carrier to be based in London, United Kingdom. The carrier plans to become the first airline to develop and offer a full premium service at an economy budget. Firnas launched a Gulf funding and crowd funding campaign in a bid to raise capital for expansion. The carrier is currently in talks with London’s five major airports with a view to establishing the airline’s UK hub. The start-up also plans to be sharia compliant, serving food meeting halal requirements and using Sharia-compliant financing methods to raise capital. Firnas planned to launch in late 2016 serving Islamabad, Jeddah, Sylhet and New York. The carrier revised its launch date to 2017, stating it will operate BAe Jetstream 31/32 and ATR72-500 aircraft to domestic destinations during initial stages. It plans to take delivery of medium sized aircraft after 12-24 months of operation.
