About

Cobalt Air is a Cypriot low-cost carrier based at Larnaca Airport. The carrier completed its first test flight on 17-May-2016, and launched its maiden flight on 01-Jun-2016, with a Lanarca-Athens service. Headquartered in Nicosia, the LCC plans to establish its own cost-efficient service, with a focus on intraline connectivity, using former staff of the grounded Cyprus Airways. The carrier will operate with a fleet of A320-200 aircraft, with significant fleet growth planned in 2017. Under a five-year plan, Cobalt plans to expand it's fleet size to 15-20 A320s and six to 10 A330s. The carrier launched scheduled operations on 07-Jul-2016, with Athens-Manchester service. In the initial stages, Cobalt will operate short-haul services to Northern European, Middle Eastern and North African destinations, with long-haul flights to South Africa, North America, China and India to be considered from summer 2017.
