BrightStar Express Airlines
BrightStar Express Airlines, formerly known as United Star Express Airlines Co. Ltd., is an express airfreight start-up. Registered in Tianjin Free Trade Zone, the new carrier is expected to provide third-party express and charter services principally serving express air cargo demand driven by e-commerce growth in Asia. BrightStar Express will serve to destinations in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and surrounding countries, and gradually add medium and long-haul international express and charter services to cover Europe and the Americas. The carrier expects to operate six small and mid-size freighters within its first year of operations, including Boeing 737F, 757F and 767F aircraft. The JV has registered capital of USD63 million and Okay Airways will hold the largest share in the carrier. ATSG West and Vipshop Holdings are also listed as principal partners in JV, while Tianjin Dongjiang Investment Company and Bridgewater Developments hold minority stakes. JV partners ATSG and Okay Airways are sourcing the start-up's fleet, and planned to launch the new cargo carrier by the end of 2017. A revised launch date has not been specified.
