About
BrightStar Express Airlines, formerly known as United Star Express Airlines Co. Ltd., was an express airfreight start-up. Registered in Tianjin Free Trade Zone, the new carrier was expected to provide third-party express and charter services principally serving express air cargo demand driven by e-commerce growth in Asia. The JV had registered capital of USD63 million and Okay Airways was expected to hold the largest share in the carrier. ATSG West and Vipshop Holdings were also listed as principal partners in JV, while Tianjin Dongjiang Investment Company and Bridgewater Developments held minority stakes. ATSG announced the suspension of the BrightStar Express JV, citing regulatory issues.
