About

Australian Air Express was established in 1992 as a joint venture between Australian flag carrier Qantas and Australia Post Corporation. The carrier operated on a domestic freight-only network using leased aircraft. It also provided cargo handling and warehousing services at Adelaide Airport, Brisbane Airport, Cairns Airport, Canberra Airport, Darwin Airport, Melbourne Tullamarine Airport, Perth Airport and Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. Australian Air Express delivered services from its hub at Melbourne Tullamarine Airport. In 2012, Qantas announced it would acquire Auspost's stake in the carrier, in exchange for its 50% interest in Star Track Express. Qantas Freight completely integrated Australia Air Express into its operations in 2014.
