About

AirAsia China is a proposed low-cost carrier by AirAsia Group following an MoU signed by Everbright Group and the Henan Government Working Group. A non-binding agreement was signed between AirAsia, Everbright, Oxley Capital and Plato Capital on 25-Sep-2017 for the establishment of the new JV carrier. AirAsia China will be based in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, China. The JV plans to invest in development of a dedicated LCC terminal at Zhengzhou Airport, surrounded by an aerotropolis which will include an aviation academy and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities. COMAC C919 service operations are up for consideration, as AirAsia China could potentially become the first foreign LCC to enter China. An expected launch date has not been advised.
