Air Senegal is the proposed flagship carrier of Senegal. The start-up was founded by the Sengalese Government to replace Senegal Airlines, which ceased operations in Mar-2016 following the withdrawal of its air operator's certificate. The airline was created with XOF40 billion (USD68.8 million) in capital, which is expected to increase to XOF100 billion (USD172 million). Senegal plans to award the defunct carrier's AOC to Air Senegal. It was expected to commence operations on 07-Dec-2017 to coincide with the inauguration of New Dakar Airport. A revised launch date of mid 2018 been stipulated. The carrier plans to operate with ATR72-600 aircraft, and signed an MoU for two A330neos in Nov-2017.
