About

Air Deccan is an Indian carrier based at Bangalore Kempegowda International Airport. Commencing in Aug-2003, the carrier was the first LCC to be established in India, operating with a fleet of ATR 42, ATR 72 and A320 aircraft. It was rebranded as Simplifly Deccan in 2007, after Kingfisher acquired a 26% stake in Deccan Aviation. Simplifly later rebranded as Kingfisher Red in Aug-2008, with services operated under the Kingfisher code. Air Deccan recommenced operations on 22-Dec-2017 under the regional connectivity scheme (UDAN), operating domestic services between Tier II & Tier III cities.

In Apr-2020, Air Deccan CEO Arun Kumar Singh reported the LCC "has no choice but to cease its operations until further notice", due to the impact of coronavirus and temporary prohibition on the operation of domestic and international passenger services in India. It is assumed the carrier has ceased operations permanently.
