About

Ryanair was established in 1985 by the Ryan family as a scheduled service carrier based in Waterford, Ireland. Following a restructure in 1990, the carrier adopted the low-cost model to become Europe's first LCC. After more than 30 years of service, Ryanair became the first European operator to have carried more than one billion passengers, with services to more than 200 destinations. Ryanair expanded its operations with the establishment and acquisition of the following subsidiaries:

  • Buzz (established as standalone Polish business unit; launched operations on 26-Apr-2018);
  • Lauda Europe;
  • Malta Air, and;
  • Ryanair UK (startup, secured AOC from UK CAA in Jan-2019).
