About
Following the fall of the Soviet Union, Azərbaycan Hava Yolları (State Concern Azerbaijan Airlines) was established in Apr-1992 as the state-owned aviation body charged with the provision of air services and support infrastructure in Azerbaijan. In 2008, the state-owned enterprise AZAL was restructured as CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines as represent the airline operations of the state. The state-owned airline division consists of the following carriers and LCC airline brand:
- Azerbaijan Airlines AZAL (established 17-Aug-1992);
- Buta Airways (established on 01-Sep-2017; replaces AZALJET which launched on 28-Mar-2016).
