The AirAsia Group is a multi-national airline group headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Originally founded in 1993, the group now operates a network of low-cost carrier's including AirAsia, AirAsia India, Philippines AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia and Thai AirAsia.
While AirAsia, based at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, is the core airline in the company, AirAsia Group retains significant oversight and equity holdings in the franchises it operates throughout Asia. All member airlines utilize the 'AirAsia' brand, employ identical low-cost business models and operate a single-type fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft. The AirAsia X Group control the brand's long-haul carriers including AirAsia X, Thai AirAsia X and Indonesia AirAsia X.

In Aug-2017, AirAsia Berhad announced its intention to implement a proposed internal reorganisation by way of a members' scheme of arrangement. Under the current corporate structure, AirAsia Berhad acts as the listed investment holding company of the AirAsia Group as well as the operating company for air transportation services in Malaysia. Through the proposed internal reorganisation, the investment holding function and the Malaysian airline business will be separated and AirAsia Group Berhad will become the investment holding vehicle assuming the listing status of AirAsia Berhad, while AirAsia Berhad will continue to operate the Malaysian airline business. The proposed internal reorganisation is expected to be complete by 1Q2018.
