The Romanian Air Traffic Services Administration (ROMATSA), based in Bucharest, is an autonomous, self-financing public enterprise under the authority of the Ministry of Transport. Established in 1991, the organization provides air traffic services for general air traffic under Instrument Flight Rules, within Romanian Air Space, as well as any other airspace allotted to Romania under European agreements. ROMATSA prioritises unitary development of the air traffic control activity and promotes the harmonisation and the integration with the European specialized system EUROCONTROL. ROMATSA works with the Ministry of National Defense to coordinate the use of Romanian airspace by both civil and military aviation.
