Vivian Cheung:Good morning, everyone. Good morning. Good morning, esteemed guests, ladies and gentlemen. I'm so happy to see you here this morning. I hope you all had a good time last night in the bar and also in Hong Kong. I hope that you still have full energy today. to discuss with your friends and colleagues here on our future. Again, welcome to the CAPA Airline Leaders Summit Asia 2024. It's an immense honour for Hong Kong International Airport to host this important event for the first time in Hong Kong. I extend my warmest greetings to all of you joining us From all around the world. This event comes at the right time too. As you know, our 3-runway system is coming to a completion by end of this year. All the 3 runways will be in operation. We'll have 30% more capacity, so there will be more good slots offering to all the airlines. In addition to that, our Sky City vision It's also starting to have a second-phase expansion. This second-phase expansion, we plan to invest another HK$100 billion to expand our city into a traveler's heaven. We hope that this will also make this place a destination for airlines to bring even more passengers As we gather here today, we stand at a critical junction in the aviation industry. The world is changing rapidly, and with it, our responsibility and opportunities. The focus on sustainability has never been more pressing, and I commend CAPA for bringing together industry leaders to discuss these vital issues here in Hong Kong. Thank you, Chair. I want to share that at Hong Kong International Airport, our commitment goes hand in hand with our operational goals. We recognize the urgency of transitioning to the low-carbon future. That's why Hong Kong International Airport is actively investing in sustainable practices. From reducing our carbon footprint to promoting the use of sustainable aviation fuels. We are working together with our key aviation-related business partners, committed to achieve net-zero carbon by 2050, with a midpoint target of 50% absolute emission reduction by 2035 from a 2018 baseline. Sustainability is not just about what we do in good times. It's also about what we do in difficult times. With this in mind, and despite the challenge of the pandemic period, Hong Kong International Airport continues to invest in projects across numerous aspects of sustainability. I'm pleased to share some of our achievements. For example, Hong Kong AI is one of the airports in Asia to use renewable diesel in ground services equipment. And 2 of our aviation fuel facilities obtained international sustainability and carbon certification for sustainable aviation fuel handling. At Hong Kong International Airport, we firmly believe that by working together, we can lead the industry toward a better future. We are deeply committed to supporting our airline partners as they grow and innovate in this dynamic landscape. We recognise that the path to the future is full of challenges, from increasing competition across regions to evolving consumer preferences and regulatory environments. However, together, I believe that we can navigate these complexities. Our airport Hong Kong is more than just a gateway in Asia and to Asia. It's a global aviation hub with immense business potential. We are dedicated to providing the necessary infrastructure and support for airlines to thrive. With 3-runway systems set to commence operations by end of this year, Hong Kong International Airport will be able to handle the long-term air traffic demand of 120 million passengers and 10 million tonnes of cargo. Coupled with seamless intermodal connectivity to the rest of the Greater Bay Area and mainland China, we can offer a larger and more prosperous market catchment for 120 airlines currently operating in Hong Kong, as well as those seeking to expand their network to Hong Kong IA. As the markets in Asia are growing and evolving, there are both opportunities and challenges. The whole industry has to be well positioned to capitalize on the emerging markets while ensuring that sustainability remains at the forefront of our efforts. As we embark on these 2 days of insightful discussion, we share our strategies and foster connections that will not only benefit our industry organisation but also strengthen the entire aviation industry. Together, let's work towards a better future where aviation thrives sustainably, where innovation drives us forward, and where our collective efforts create lasting positive impacts.
