Embraer Asia Pacific, Director of Market Intelligence, Fernando Grau interviewed on the sidelines of the CAPA Asia Aviation Summit 2022.

Fernando Grau:Embraer, as you know, we spun off a new company called Eve, right? And they are actually developing an aeroplane for 4 passengers and 1 pilot that is going to enter into service in early '26. Yeah. So that's very important for the region because, as you know, urban mobility is fundamental, especially in congested cities, Southeast Asia, Asia in general. And we believe we're going to have a great success here by delivering lots of those machines in the next few years. Embraer has been a specialist in regional aviation since the beginning of our history, so we intend to be the best manufacturer in regional aviation. Airplanes. Obviously, 146 being the maximum seating capacity of our E195-E2, I would say is within the limits of what our product range at the moment is. We have lots of interest in between 100 seats to, to 130 seats in dual class. We can offer many alternatives for airlines to optimise their networks within the regional aviation. And we are quite satisfied that even with a regional aeroplane sitting, say, 136 seats or 140 seats, we can deliver a better fuel burn per passenger kilometre than much larger aeroplanes because the technology in both aerodynamics and new engines of our aeroplanes are really a leapfrog in terms of emissions and technology. Right. And we are happy to supply those aeroplanes for the industry and offer them to the industry, and we are seeing them actually replacing other models in airlines like KLM, Azul Airlines. We have several customers now here in Asia as well interested in looking into this aeroplane, and we see with great prospect. We don't need to look into that larger aeroplane segment at the moment, and we are looking into delivering more E2s to the region. The turboprop market, I think, is mature and ready for a new product. I think it has been at least 30 years since the latest platform was developed. And Embraer itself, we started with regional turboprops back in the '60s. In the '80s, we also developed a successful turboprop called the EMB-120 Brasília, up to 30 seats. And now we are actually developing a new turboprop, TPNG, to enter service by late '28. And that aeroplane will be able to optimise and maybe supply a little bit more seats than the current turboprops. So we envision there is a space for 10 to 15% lower operating cost per passenger on aeroplanes configured between 70 and the 90, 95, 94 seats. So there is a space for new technology to be applied, both engines, aircraft controls technology, and a better optimisation, especially cabin comfort. There is a lot of things that with new technology we can be able to offer, and the passengers will feel way more comfortable with, with this kind of design. Thank you, Fernando.
