Rick Dominguez:What are your hopes for the future of the industry? Well, first of all, we'd like to make sure that this thesis is tested and that the next down cycle that airlines are able to maintain their profitability, perhaps at a lower level, but instead of going into the deep losses that they experienced in the past decade. So we look forward to working with management collaboratively to confront all the challenges, whether it be cross-border alliances, joint ventures, equity partnerships. And we have seen a new willingness by management, as evidenced just a few days ago, where American Airlines CEO provided unilaterally profit sharing to his employees, which we applaud. One of the key messages is that the US aviation industry is still quite divided on the issue of foreign ownership, where we as labour believe that we have very valid concerns on how foreign ownership would have to be structured for it to come to the United States. There are others that believe that foreign ownership should just go up— go forward without any consideration for labour, a notion we reject.
