Tiger to cut some Australian routes to restore reliabilty, shares at post-float low
On Friday, Tiger Airways announced several route changes aimed at simplifying its Australian flying programme to help restore the punctuality of its operation.
Services from Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) to Mackay and Rockhampton will be suspended on 01-Aug-2011, as will Brisbane-Sydney and Sydney-Sunshine Coast.
The carrier added that services to Mackay and Rockhampton "have in recent months been adversely affected by rising oil prices and the recent Queensland natural disasters. In addition, as the airline does not currently have a crew base in New South Wales or Queensland, operating punctual flights between Brisbane-Sydney and Sydney-Sunshine Coast has proved more challenging than anticipated."
Tiger will continue to operate 14 routes across Australia. Tiger Airways' shares slipped 0.8% on Friday in Singapore trade to SGD1.32 - a new post-IPO low.
