Royal Jordanian Airlines first to operate Bombardier Q400 in Middle East

Analysis

TORONTO (Bombardier) - Bombardier Aerospace announced today that Royal Jordanian Airlines will become the first Middle East operator of the Q400 turboprop.

The introduction of the first of two previously owned, 74-passenger, 360-knot (667 km/h) Q400 aircraft by the end of this month will mark the inauguration of a new Royal Jordanian Airlines brand, Royal Jordanian xpress, and will upgrade the regional service that has been provided by Royal Wings since 1996. Royal Wings began the service when it acquired its first 50-passenger Dash 8-300 turboprop in 1996. A second Dash 8-300 aircraft was added in 1998.

"We are delighted that Royal Jordanian Airlines will launch its new Royal Jordanian xpress operation with the Q400 aircraft," said Steven Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. "Passengers are sure to enjoy the speed and superior comfort of the aircraft, and Royal Jordanian Airlines will benefit from the low operating costs of the Q400 - the lowest of any regional aircraft."

Royal Jordanian Airlines' mainline fleet currently consists of Airbus A310, A320, A321 and A340 aircraft.
