US Airways, United, American, Continental best performers as Wall Street Casino has quiet day.
None of the US airlines moved 20% yesterday, as Wall Street was in subdued mood for the airline industry. This could spell bad news for the short term, with profit takers standing on the sidelines.
US Airways (+6.3%) performed best, despite threats of being sued by NY Waterway, the commuter ferry service operator that plies between New Jersey and Manhattan and whose services were disrupted for two days while the airline's Hudson miracle unfolded.
NY Waterway is apparently a contender for the airline industry as it too is facing bankruptcy and alleges it suffered significant financial costs and losses as a result of the ditching.
United (+3.6%), American (+3.6%) and Continental (+3.6%) all moved slightly upwards on the day.
Meanwhile, Delta was off 1.3%.
