THAI and Shanghai Airlines Sign MOU for Commercial Cooperation

Bangkok (THAI AIRWAYS) - Mr. Vasing Kittikul, Executive Vice President, Commercial Department of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited and Mr. Gu Jiadan, Senior Vice President, Shanghai Airlines Company Limited, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for their commercial cooperation. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Wanchai Sarathulthat, THAI’s Chairman, Mr. Pridi Boonsue, THAI’s Vice President, Marketing Development & Support, Mr. Zhou Chi, Chairman of Shanghai Airlines Company Limited and Ms. Zhou Xiaoe, Senior Vice President of Shanghai Airlines Company Limited.

Mr. Vasing Kittikul, THAI’s Executive Vice President, Commercial Department, said that the MOU signing between THAI and Shanghai Airlines aims to increase more travel convenience for the airlines’ passengers. The Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) also expands flying network between the two airlines providing passengers with fast and easy services such as through check-in, frequent flyer program, less connecting flight time, and special privileged lounge services for the passengers of the two airlines at any airport worldwide. In addition, the agreement develops commercial cooperation and supports increased tourism industry demand for Thailand and the People’s Republic of China.

THAI and Shanghai Airlines support each other for their code share flights on the route ThailandChina v.v. and points beyond increasing the competitiveness among other airlines in the region. THAI will have more operating domestic points in the People’s Republic of China while Shanghai Airlines will fly to many THAI’s operating domestic destinations in Thailand.

Mr. Gu Jiadan, Senior Vice President, Shanghai Airlines, said that "This agreement between Shanghai Airlines and THAI, our strong and growing commitment to customers on both sides of the Asia Pacific. We are pleased to work closely with our partners at THAI, to extend our route network from China to Thailand, while providing the traveling public of the PRC with more accesses to Thailand. With the growth of our cooperation we are expecting that both of our customers will be able to purchase one ticket and check in just once, from China or Thailand, for an entire trans-Asia Pacific journey. “
