South Africa continues to invest in ATM upgrades, even as growth rates are slashed

ATNS, South Africa's air navigation service provider (ANSP), continues to invest in the development of the national ATM system to prepare for an expected influx of traffic associated with next year’s FIFA World Cup. The near term outlook however remains bleak as traffic rates contract as the local economy weakens. But Africa – as a whole – may look forward to better growth rates in 2009 than most other regions.
