Port Authority to block attempt to introduce slot auctions in New York

The plan by the US Department of Transportation and US Federal Aviation Administration to introduce ‘market measures’ into US airports may be set to fail at the very first hurdle. As of early Aug-08, the plan to implement slot auctions at the congested New York metropolitan area airports is unravelling, as one of the major players in the plan, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, has proposed to block any flights resulting from the slot auction plan.
