IHG Opens Holiday Inn at Santiago Airport

Analysis

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced the opening of

the Holiday Inn Santiago Airport. The 112-room hotel is the first Holiday Inn

property to be situated within airport grounds in Latin America and the first

Holiday Inn in Chile.

The Holiday Inn Santiago Airport is owned by Talbot, under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group. Talbot owns seven other IHG hotels, including the Holiday Inn Express Puerto Madero in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the Holiday Inn Express properties in Chile: Iquique, Concepcion, Antofagasta, Puerto Montt, Santiago and Temuco.

The five-story hotel is located at the Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez Airport, also known as Santiago International Airport. Major international carriers such as American Airlines, Air Canada, Air France, Iberia and Aerolineas Argentinas also operate into Santiago International Airport.

"This property is an exciting addition for us not only because of the airport location, but also because it is the eighth property we have developed with Talbot," said Alvaro Diago, Area President, Latin America, IHG. "We have had a long and solid relationship with Talbot that has resulted in tremendous successes, and we look forward to opening more hotels with them throughout the Southern Cone of South America."

IHG has more than 160 hotels in Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean, and has been serving Latin America for over 60 years. IHG is the world's largest hotel group by number of rooms, and the second largest hotel operator in Latin America. IHG has hotels situated in nearly every key market throughout the Latin America territory.
