Global markets continue downward slide

Most global stock markets continued their downward slide on Friday. After several Asian bourses (Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mumbai) posted declines of between 8% and 11%, and the UK announced the first quarterly contraction in GDP for 16 years, futures trading in New York was suspended prior to the opening of the market due to stop limits being reached. The Dow Jones Industrial Average eventually finished just over 3% down.
