Christchurch International Airport and APN Outdoor sign advertising contract
Christchurch International Airport Ltd (CIAL) reached an agreement
with APN Outdoor, to manage the rights for indoor and outdoor advertising at
Christchurch International Airport, an advertising contract that is presently
the third largest in New Zealand.
The commercial agreement is effective from 01-Jul-07, with implementation being rolled out in a two-staged approach. First underway will be the outdoor advertising, followed by the indoor advertising in conjunction with the development of Christchurch Airport's USD152.6 million integrated terminal project.
Rene Bakx, CIAL's CEO, believes that Christchurch Airport's 5.5 million annual passengers and its unique position as the gateway for the best of the South Island represents a "tremendous commercial opportunity for both partners and advertisers".
The APN Outdoor contract is the first of several retail and commercial contracts to be awarded by CIAL, worth an estimated total sales value of greater than USD763.2 billion, in the lead up to the delivery of its new airport development.
APN Outdoor General Manager, Tim Simpkins, commented that the high-profile contract provided 70 internal and external advertising sites capable of reaching a wide and highly sought after audience. "We will be re-launching the site with the staged implementation of a new advertising asset portfolio that will be of a quality unsurpassed in the Asia Pacific. This will facilitate our capacity to capture fully, the value available to our advertising clients and the Airport in this market enriched location."
APN Outdoor is a major media supplier in New Zealand with an excess of two hundred contracts across the transit, billboard and street furniture product range. APN Outdoor has operated in the advertising market in New Zealand and Australia since 1998.
