Boeing strike may be a convenient out for some airlines as the economy cools

Ryanair this week announced it has been forced to postpone the launch of 11 new routes from Dusseldorf and 25 routes from Birmingham. Yesterday, Australia’s international start-up carrier, V(irgin) Australia was forced into the costly decision of delaying its Sydney-Los Angeles launch by 76 days until the end of Feb-09, thereby missing the prime Christmas/New Year holiday peak.
