AWAS places aircraft with El Al and Norwind, ALAFCO seeking damages

Kuwaiti leasing company Aviation Lease and Finance Company (ALAFCO) is reportedly seeking USD70 million in damages from Wataniya Airways, after the Kuwait-based carrier ceased operations in mid-Mar-2011. ALAFCO has three A320s on lease to Wataniya, with the contract running from 2009 to 2017. Shares in ALAFCO were flat on Friday, on a generally positive day for leasing company shares.

AWAS announced it has placed two B767-300ERs on lease, one with Nordwind Airlines of Russia and the other with El Al Israel Airlines.

Jackson Square Aviation announced the delivery of one B777-300ER to Air France, in connection with a long-term operating lease. DVB Bank provided senior debt for the aircraft. This is the first of four 2011 deliveries JSA has in place with Air France, with three A320s to follow later this year
