AirAsia stated it is going through “short-term losses for long-term gains” after unveiling its first quarterly loss since 2004. AirAsia is poised for a strong final quarter having “cleared the decks” of accumulated garbage (ie high fuel costs, hedging losses and surcharges) in the past quarter. Thai AirAsia is mired in that country’s political problems, but the situation in Thailand could turn out to be a major opportunity.
